DML F/A-18 Hornet Fighter Pilot during Operation Enduring Freedom

Before HotToys-it was Dragon that pioneered & ruled the 1/6 hobby scene and to me DML is STILL one of the best 1/6 scale producer. Unfortunately they have stopped doing modern military themes and now concentrates mainly on WWII German or American military themes. In its heyday DML was tops and hopefully this COMPLETELY DML kit-bash post will show you why.
Above is the HGU 55/p flight helmet with visor cover & MBU 20 CE pilot oxygen mask.
Here's a closer look at the 1/6 DML HGU 55/P flight helmet compared to the REAL actual helmet below, this is DML quality y'all way before HotToys stepped up their game.
OK-lets check this pilot out from head to toe.
Above you'll see the MA-2TORSO HARNESSES + SV-2 SURVIVAL VEST + LPU-23/P LIFE PRESERVER,yup that's right together with the tan color jumpsuit there's 4 layers of items here alone!
The survival vest includes a pouch for a radio, military torchlight and another pouch with survival kit-what kit? Look below.
Survival kit includes smoke flare, waterproof strobe, handy utility knife, mirror for signaling, smaller flare kit and of course a military issue Baretta with clip.Couple of things are missing here such as a can opener tool, small plastic bottle of drinking water and a whistle-those are somewhere else didn't have time to look for em.
Above: better view of the LPU-23/P LIFE PRESERVER in the situation of the pilot crashing in the middle of the Gulf ocean.
Actual 1/6 scale map of Iraq and a large flag to indicate to friendlies/enemy in the event of rescue/capture. *please don't shoot me Mr. Towel Head.
He wears the most basic military jungle boots for any condition.
HERO shot before putting the MBU 20 CE oxygen mask on.
Lets not forget to plug in the helmet communications cable.

Also plugged in is the oxygen supply hose and another pressure hose for the pressure G-suit to help fight off those heavy Gs during high-speed flight maneuvers.
Lets put it on & make sure there's oxygen flowing through this bitch.
eh...i forgot one important procedure before going up to 20 thousand feet.
Pre-flight booger removal, hell you think i can do this at 2 Gs at 20 thousand feet in the air?
5 pcs of the actual flight suit not including the tanned colored jump suit (for desert warfare ops).
I actually bought this whole DML pilot gear in YellowBoxTrade Sg years and years ago as they strip & sell stuff off as loose sets or items. The whole set is actually from this DML 70147 figure set as you can see below.
And the figure body itself is actually from my very first DML 12" action figure bought from the long gone Bluestone book shop in Gadong, its from this DML figure set.
...and what becomes of the figure after I've stripped him of all the gear and jumpsuit?

Well boys & pervs that's it for my full DML fighter pilot posting, these long blog postings are exasperating so i really hope you guys enjoyed it. I've had this set FOR year and years and years and its only in such condition cos i keep my stuff properly-DML was the best 1/6 manufactuerer but they still make very decent WWII German & American army figures.

Anyways happy weekend y'all I hope to bring you more DML postings from my humble collection in the near future and show you its not only HotToys that make great stuff.

HOT TOYS US ARMY RANGER 75th REGIMENT with SCAR-L

i think its the right time to expose and pictorial 'review' one of my major full figure box set acquisitions of this year..bought this during my work trip to Sg in May-yes that's right I've not done a post about it here since getting it,just don't wanna follow the trend of racing to post something fresh off the oven. Its a shame to realize HotToys are now doing more on movie characters then military figures which put them on the map, this Ranger could well be one of their last military figures for a while to come.

So? here we go..lets start with the box.

The box itself is standard HT level of quality..its eye catching in its own right so i keep most or all of my 1/6 figure boxes. I bet most of you do as well.

The now familiar Hot Toys logo-by far the best producers of 1/6 figures at the moment.
The figure and accessories in the usual designed clear plastic trays-please you tell me now: how to tahan not to open this??!!! Yes your steady if you can keep it in unopened mint condition but once a while you'll take out also to touch & smell also right? Hell if i so rich like some people who can afford to buy 2 sets of each figure then sure la can keep one in box forever but who are we kidding :P

eh...where have i seen this face before ah?...hmmm...*duh..of course the head sculpt is that of Terence Howard from Ironman.
would be perfect if your gonna do a kit-bash of Lt. Col. Rhodes in his para rescue gear when he finds Tony Stark in the desert after his escape. hm mm...maybe a future kit-bash project? we'll see..actually why the HELL not?

"GET SOME YOU MUTHA...!!!"
lets take a close up look at the waist belt with suspender harness.
the pop flare and its pouch on the left side drop down panel.

the GPS in its pouch just next to the pop flare pouch as shown below.
and of course on the right side of the waist belt is the standard M9 pistol with holster.
Sawtooth boots instead of your typical military issued combat boots.
Mk.16(Scar L) with Grenade Launcher,i did an earlier post of the Mk.16 (Scar L) here.

MICH helmet and the ACH Headset System-communications all set!

well all geared up...lets move Ranger!!!
looks like that's all for this pictorial review of my HT U.S. Army Ranger 75th regiment featuring the headsculpt of Terence Howard...this is by far the BIGGEST post per topic i have done and its finally taken me till today 20th Oct to finish it as I've been very busy with work and all. I really hope you guys enjoy it even if your not a military figure fan.

oh and that proposed Lt. Col. Rhodes in pararescue gear in IronMan i mentioned?

I'm already on it...but that will be a post for next time-cheers!!!

Scanner fun...

never knew a simple scanner can be so fun...

By far this is my ALL TIME favorite MG Zaku kit-bash...the scanned images speak for themselves.

the military theme and camo airbrushing on this is superb,i doubt if i can get to this level anytime soon. The sniper rifle is based on the real life Barret M82A1 .50 caliber sniper rifle below.

for those who have bought stuff from me you'll know i give a free otaku mag with each purchase but this is one copy I'll never give away simply based on this Zaku kit-bash pages. This is the mag those pages are scanned from and this issue features a whopping 28 different MG Zaku kit-bash and mods-the Sniper Zaku was just 1 of them.

Bradley Cooper who will play the role of Lt. Templeton "Faceman" Peck on the set of the new A-Team movie doing weapons training.

Brad Cooper/'Face' is using a standard M4 Carbine+surefire grip+side railing light with ARFX Skeleton Stock similar to this one below.

other stuff i scanned for fun...

DML 1/6 figure box art...

HT 1/6 Ranger figure box back cover art...

HT 1/6 weapons set back cover box art.

Oct 08' issue of Q music mag with my fav band featured...who knew almost 1 year later Noel's left...

and finally...

not a scan but this bitch took me close to 2 exhausting back breaking hours to clean up with the dust & grime accumulated from years...haven't touched this hobby in ages and now i remembered why...too time consuming, back breaking, dirty and too expensive.

you should see how dirty & grime covered the mini engine is...but that's for another time and place la. Busy busy busy week ahead for me...have a good one y'all.
