1 night in Bangkok...

Wednesday 19th May 2010my first ever trip to Bangkok...well stop over really on way back from my Munich work trip...and of all days...its the height of the red shirt riots...its REAL when you see armed soldiers at road blocks and diversions everywhere...so we had to use a lot of the back roads to get to our hotel.
another armed soldier with a 12-gauge shotgun...
the Landmark hotel in Bangkok...along Sukhumvit Road...just across Nana mrt station..ok after checking in around mid afternoon...lets go explore whatever we can near by on foot...cos of the riots most or all of the big malls/shopping centres are closed...
was such a hot humid afternoon...this ice cold beer was heaven...and of course...when in Thailand drink Thai beer!!! we stopped at this charming little restaurant for a late afternoon lunch...
Thai style kwey tiow...not bad...
yup that's right...just outside where we had our late lunch...i would not dare to try out such 'things' but its quite a sight...even the po po on patrol were checking it out...hell yeah-you know your no longer in Brunei when you see street vendors selling fake Viagra on the streets..and next to it is a pirated DVD stall selling normal and gay porn in broad daylight...welcome to the real world.
accompany the boss to a small tailor to alter his suits...just opposite this small grocery shop...apparently most of the expatriates come here to buy their daily goods...
Bangkok city skyline view from my 18th floor hotel room...well curfew is 9pm later so can't do much and like i said most places are closed...so after a nice Thai massage nearby we could only have dinner at the restaurant inside the hotel...the hotel staff start to fence up the entrances etc...it looked like they were getting ready for a war...spooky.
so dinner is over...curfew just started...but damn bored...so headed to the bar for drinks...hell its either this or go back to room...
my first ever Mexican Mojito...not bad...we (me,my boss and his Thai lady friend) had a whole bottle of Johnny Walker red label...i didn't believe we could finish the whole bottle but we did...
spooky...first time such a big city like Bangkok is deserted...at just 930pm...
hell yeah...the so called mini bar items in my room...one could really get sloshed this way...no need bar or pub...
well the next day we decided to leave early cos nothing to do in Bangkok...so before going to the airport i decided to go for a morning walk in downtown Bangkok...
some army general on TV again giving updates on the crackdown...
spotted this on the way to the airport....

anyways that's it for my first time ever in Bangkok...what a weird experience but i want to come back again to see and feel the city again...please do pardon as i could only use my cellphone to take these pictures...its a public holiday today as our beloved Sultan celebrates his 64th birthday...I'll be back soon cos I'm just gonna chill and relax for the day..have a good one y'all..and yes no toy haul on this trip -_-

...2 blokes...

"Eh?"

"Eh."

I'm not a McLaren supporter but i DID enjoy these two video clips...Button & Hamilton are 2 F1 champions but here they are like a couple of blokes off to the pub...best bit for me is Button going "Eh?" when the team leaves them to assemble the car...and them debating which car is which...lazy to post lately due to work stress...will do my Bkk overnight stay next.

UTTER.BULLSHIT.

OK...if your not living and driving a car in good ol Brunei then disregard this post as the ramblings of a typical vehicle owner/road user...i submitted the form to renew my vehicle license plates on Saturday...and then this bullshit came out:

http://www.borneobulletin.com.bn/wed/jun16h2.htm

i thought maybe mine hasn't started process yet cos before this it took a week or more to make the plates and i could just get away with not making them...and suddenly when this news came out they tell me its done by today...BULLSHIT...

now i have to pay !@#%^&*_ $38_*&^%#@! for a set of new car plates I.DON'T.FUXKING.NEED.ANYMORE.

OK done...cheers.

I'VE been missing out on this???

for some odd reason Rei is my favorite in term of character depth...she is SO deep...
Asuka is obviously the favorite for most fans but not for me...yet watching Eva 2.22 made me sorta miss the figure i bought from KL last year...cos i sold it off :p
last night i watched Evangelion 1.11 before watching Eva 2.22 (as advised by Eric,thanks!)...i was curious what the hoo haa was all about...I'm a so so anime movie fan...the only anime series i watched with passion was Bleach but that got boring as the story arcs were repetitive...

as far as I'm concerned the only thing i knew about Evangelion were the skinny cyborg mechas and the toys...heck i bought the Asuka Langley Fraulein figure for fun really & not cos i was a fan of the thing...BUT...even-though the world is in WorldCup fever last night i watched the 2 movies back to back...heck Eva1.11 was French dubbed some more and lucky i found Eng subs...

WOW

probably THE.BEST.THING.I'VE.WATCHED. since AVATAR.

oh and this Utada Hikaru song from then end of the movie is my current fave song for now until i get really sick of it.

i won't be rushing out to get the toys but i will be looking forward to the next movie...from what I'm told there's quite a few planned.

the END.

...so have you guys seen the big finale? if you have then your either disappointed..or you thought it.was.the.bomb. or your like me who felt a bit of both,as one friend said it "I've had a relationship with this show for the last six years-how can it end like that???"

anyways I'm having a hard time getting back to posting things cos the net speed is terrible at my workplace lately...hell it took me almost an hour just to load this one single damned image, yup no joke.

rest assured I'll get back to it soon OK my dear friends? oh another thing...they didn't bring back Mr. Eko for the finale which disappointed me and if you haven't seen the finale come on have you been living in a cave or what? Oh if you haven't watched it-JACK DIES AT THE END. So what's next?

Back...

Munich was COLD,clean but quietly charming...

Bangkok was HOT,noisy but eerie quiet during the govt imposed curfew between 9pm-5am...

I am jet-lagged,sore and exhausted and i have almost 2 weeks' worth of laundry to do and just the weekend to recover and go back to work next Monday :( so I'll be back soon enough for my regular postings...so guten abend and sa-wat dee.

Sunday, May 9, 2010

SORRY...

i know its been a while since my last posting and i do apologies for that...work overload and life itself has sidetracked me from here and i don't yet have the time and energy to give my most recent two projects fair justice of a proper posting so instead here are two teasers for now.

its ironic as these two projects are related to Germany as I may be headed to Munich next weekend for yet another work trip...and it'll be the furthest I've ever flown to anywhere...and i REALLY don't look forward to the more then 15 hours flight but I'll make the best of it so I'll pop in perhaps before i go off.

Tataa for now.

2 minutes...

just spotted this earlier..a full 2-minute clip below from the party scene we've all seen in the trailers..nothing special but just to share as IM2 premier sneaks closer & closer...and according to one of you we'll have Brunei premier ONE WEEK EARLIER then the U.S.

original posting here.

...there's that damned portable IronMan suit-in-a-case again with director Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan.
